We are a team of Market Access and HEOR experts who have a unique blend of strategic and expert knowledge of a wide range of Market Access projects from development of early strategy to delivery of HTA-appropriate materials. MAP has campaigned to address the inequity of reimbursement of orphan/ultra-orphan medicines and has built its expertise through the delivery of over 60% of all NICE Highly Specialised Technologies (HST) and SMC’s Ultra-orphan process. Senior HTA Consultants are a trusted strategic partner for our clients, accountable for project delivery and exceeding client expectations.

What will you be doing in this role? :


  • Lead the development of high-quality UK/Ireland HTA submissions, market access and pricing projects or other EU submissions
  • Ensure deliverables meet HTA agencies requirements
  • Deliver clear recommendations relating to reimbursement and input into data generation strategy
  • Overall accountability for managing the client relationship and exceeding client expectations
  • Leading and coordinating on multi-disciplinary project delivery teams; communicating effectively with each project team on team roles and responsibilities and providing clear direction on client objectives for team members. You will also need to lead the team in being adaptable to inevitable project changes and evolving challenges and take decisions on changes in scope
  • Lead the co-ordinated response and engagement to consultations on updates and reviews of national clinical guidelines
  • Engage national/regional/local stakeholders through appropriate processes to secure access and funding for drugs
  • Maintain knowledge and monitor the external environment to technically support the best HTA strategy
  • Collaborate with a complex matrix of global and local stakeholders on UK pricing and access strategy, meeting both the client and MAP Patient Access objectives
  • Lead and review the development of proposals
  • Create a clear understanding of the national context under which the local healthcare organisations operate – taking a future view of the customer landscape and proactively communicating the changing landscape to the business
  • Provide guidance on the implementation of HEOR evidence generation strategies to support the value proposition of medicines
  • Advise and ensure the Market access and HEOR activities are aligned with the end-to-end market access strategy)
  • Provide strategic and/or technical input into outcome study designs, real world evidence (RWE) collection, economic models, etc)
  • Quality assurance of HTA projects (provide clarity to the cross-functional team)
  • Reviewing and contributing to project deliverables from a strategic perspective, in liaison with internal and external experts, to ensure the content and quality is in accordance with the client’s goals, the project strategy, and with MAP’s high standards
  • Internally accountable for the financial health of project(s)
  • Involvement in business development activities, including project scoping, proposal, and budget development. Making use of your client relationships to identify and pursue new business opportunities and build and maintain existing MAP client relationships
  • Involvement in team leadership, including input into team management, team strategy and decision making
  • Involvement in MAP leadership Market Access & Pricing Strategy meetings to input and shape the strategic direction of MAP and the Market Access and Pricing Strategy team

 


Essential skills and experience:

  • A deep understanding of UK HTA processes. At least 5 years’ professional experience in HTA delivery, HEOR or market access, preferably in a consultancy, HTA agency or pharmaceutical environment
  • Previous experience leading UK/EU HTA submissions and/or market access/HEOR projects
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proven ability to mediate, negotiate and problem solve, including the development of risk mitigation strategies for identified challenges within a market access decision problem
  • Experience and understanding of the UK and/or European HTA processes
  • Understanding of NHS funding flows, and mechanisms to operationalise commercial agreements within the NHS
  • Skilled in developing strategy to secure positive recommendations from UK HTA bodies (NICE, SMC and AWMSG)
  • Experience of developing submissions to UK HTA bodies and managing the process
  • Previous accountability for customer relationship management
  • Experienced in leading the development of commercial strategy, including Patient Access Schemes/ CAA and innovative/ outcomes-based agreements
  • Up to date knowledge of early engagement and horizon scanning opportunities and activities
  • Up to date knowledge of regulatory processes and HTA methods and process developments
  • Line management experience

 

 Desirable:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Economics, Health Policy, Epidemiology, Life Science or related discipline
  • International HTA experience
  • External management consultancy experience
  • Experience of managing external supplier
  • Advanced Excel and data handling/insight software
  • Experience of working with the NHS/Industry
